Work In Progress ©

She sat staring blankly out the window. Drops of rain trickled down the glass. It was a steady, cold, fall rain, gray and gloomy. Her mind was racing, trying to control her thoughts was proving futile. She heaved a sigh and turned back to her computer. It was so unfair. Her level of frustration was beginning to rise for the third time today. The Peter Principal was alive and well and running rampant in this company. She wasn’t angry with those who were honestly ignorant, she was angry with those who chose to remain ignorant. She really did have patience, but lately her fuse was becoming shorter and shorter.
She looked at the back of her door where the “Bang Head Here” sign was taped. The temptation was great, instead she opened up her rocket launcher icon and proceeded to shoot nerf rockets at her wall. Her USB rocket launcher could shoot almost 10 feet, and the thought of shooting it at one of those who was frustrating her crossed her mind, she thought better of it. Jim, in the office next to her, could hear the launcher. “You really should put up a target with their faces, it will make you feel better”, he said through the wall. She smiled. He knew that this was her way of releasing her anger; his was exercising at the gym. She admired him for having the discipline and motivation. She had neither.
